Atlanta homes for sale are like holiday ornaments

Last week, I went to an ornament swap and came out a wiser Realtor.  Everyone’s ornament was beautifully wrapped, but I was busy that afternoon and wrapped my pretty ornament in tissue paper with no ribbon. I really thought that I had one of the prettiest ornaments, but it was, literally, the last one that was selected. Several of my friends laughed and said that I should have known better, as it’s all in the presentation.

And this started me thinking: what if you have the prettiest Atlanta home for sale but it isn’t “wrapped” very well? It won’t matter what price you list it, as it won’t be shown (and selected), because no one will look inside.

Times are tough. When you put your Atlanta home up for sale, it has to be the prettiest home in the neighborhood, both inside and out. Clean and spruce up the front door; plant seasonal flowers; don’t leave your trash cans in front of the house. Inside, clean your home (physically and aromatically) and reduce the clutter. De-personalize the home; box up personal items, such as photos, and take the drawings and magnets off the refrigerator.

Don’t  “wrap your home in tissue paper” and hope that someone will see through it. Make your for-sale-home shine like a pretty holiday ornament.
